The Start menu received its first major overhaul in XP, switching to a two-column layout with the ability to list, pin, and display frequently used applications, recently opened documents, and the traditional cascading "All Programs" menu. The taskbar can now group windows opened by a single application into one taskbar button, with a popup menu listing the individual windows. The notification area also hides "inactive" icons by default. A "common tasks" list was added, and Windows Explorer's sidebar was updated to use a new task-based design with lists of common actions; the tasks displayed are contextually relevant to the type of content in a folder (e.g. a folder with music displays offers to play all the files in the folder, or burn them to a CD).[24]

Variants of Windows XP for embedded systems have different support policies: Windows XP Embedded SP3 and Windows Embedded for Point of Service SP3 were supported until January and April 2016, respectively. Windows Embedded Standard 2009, which was succeeded by Windows Embedded Standard 7, and Windows Embedded POSReady 2009, which was succeeded by Windows Embedded POSReady 7, were supported until January and April 2019, respectively.[116] These updates, while intended for the embedded editions, could also be downloaded on standard Windows XP with a registry hack, which enabled unofficial patches until April 2019. However, Microsoft advised Windows XP users against installing these fixes, citing incompatibility issues.[9][117]

On April 14, 2009, Windows XP exited mainstream support and entered the extended support phase; Microsoft continued to provide security updates every month for Windows XP, however, free technical support, warranty claims, and design changes were no longer being offered. Extended support ended on April 8, 2014, over 12 years after the release of Windows XP; normally Microsoft products have a support life cycle of only 10 years.[118] Beyond the final security updates released on April 8, no more security patches or support information are provided for XP free-of-charge; "critical patches" will still be created, and made available only to customers subscribing to a paid "Custom Support" plan.[119] As it is a Windows component, all versions of Internet Explorer for Windows XP also became unsupported.[120]

Security analysts have long called for the company to consider shipping free CDs with security patches to deal with the narrowband conundrum. Microsoft believes that improvements to the patch design process coupled with increased broadband penetration in the U.S. will improve the patch application ecosystem.

This is the official bootable ISO file, it is a direct download of the installation file. You will need a valid product key to be able to use this operating system. Probably you already have one, since this version is not available for sale anymore.

It is part from operating systems category and is licensed as shareware for Windows 32-bit and 64-bit platform and can be used as a free trial until the trial period will end. The Windows XP Professional 64 Bit (Official ISO Image) demo is available to all software users as a free download with potential restrictions compared with the full version.

This is just a beautiful synth! I'm Amazed that it's free/D.W. I love the classic Roland sounds, and this seems to nail those. It's very analog-y. So many great patches available, too. And...midi-learn-that's always a clincher for me. Along with low CPU usage, 64-bit availability and inspiring GUI, it's become a definite favorite of mine. Thank you very much Mr. Luders.

Does anyone know why the 'JX-8P Original Banks' file at the top has the init patch for the 1st bank (32 patches)? These would be the internal JX-8P factory sounds... but they're strangely absent (although the correct patch names are displayed).

I downloaded this sometime ago and I've just started messing around with it. What a great VST Synth emulation this is. Is there any easy way of getting the factory presets into it - I can play synth and program them, but I'm not too familiar with sysex - if that's whats needed to load the sounds, so I will need a spoon feed. Any paper patch diagrams, I don't mind going in the hard way!!.

How do you load the files into the VST? I have downloaded a set of banks which contains RAM and ROM banks in sysx format. When I try to load them via VST drop down box (top left in synth vst) it telss me they are not valid VST banks???

The Outlook Express e-mail program, meanwhile, has finally been told to stop letting attachments have free rein, which was the source of many viruses in the past. Programs sent as an Outlook attachment won't run. At all. Bad news for all those dancing hamster e-mail greeting cards; good news for everyone plagued by zillions of e-mail-borne viruses. And even "document" attachments, such as MP3s or Word files, will require a second click to open them. And finally, you can block the display of images in e-mail, foiling spammers (and didtheyreadit.com, which I wrote about a couple of weeks ago) who use tiny images to verify that you've seen an e-mail.

dunno if this can help, but trying to run the "colors marker to match stroke" extension on the 46pre1, i get a console backgound windowswith the path "C:\ programmes files\ inkscape\python.exe" and a pop-up saying something like "python.exe cannot be run because python24.dll cannot be found".

hi,The downloaded Inkscape 0.46 does not seem to include an installer so I wrote a little .bat file to change the PATH before starting the program. The Effects then work because the python files are found.runink.batset PATH="C:\directory\where\files\were\unzipped\inkscape\python";%PATH%;set PYTHONPATH="C:\directory\where\files\were\unzipped\inkscape\python"C:\directory\where\files\were\unzipped\inkscape\inkscape.exe

As far as I am concerned, this is not a bug, it is an installation issue, which can probably be solved by a user. I had the same problem myself when switching from Inkscape 45.1 to 46-devel. The problem was at least partly caused by the switch from python24.dll to python25.dll. There are two different ways of tackling this : You can try a clean install where you remove all vestiges of the previous install, remove the \Inkscape\python\ directory, remove the \Inkscape\share\extensions\ directory, make sure python.exe is in the path, make sure there are no old .pyc files left lying around. Second method is to install Python 2.5.1 for yourself directly off the net. I've tried both methods, afaict they both work. I would recommend the second method, for the following reason: In the newer versions of 0.46 the file import procedure has been largely taken over by the uniconv utility, which is really cool, but I think it is extremely unlikely that anyone will get uniconv to run on windows unless they have personally installed it for themselves off the net. (This in turn requires that you first have your own installation of Python as well.) At least that has been my experience so far, it is still a work in progress. Anyways, to get to the point, I know that in principle these things are all supposed to be included in the package, but in practice you can simplify life a lot by just installing your own copy. It probably should not be necessary to do this, but on the other hand it is a very small price to pay for the added functionality you are getting, just my 2cts worth. 2ff7e9595c
